A Coup Fit For the United States

It has been a week since the United States Capitol building was stormed by angry Trump supporters, who hoped by inciting violence they would somehow overturn the election results of the 2020 United States Presidential election.

While the mob attacked police and destroyed federal property their ultimate goal would not be met as the vote certification they looked to halt was completed early into the morning the next day.

While most Americans, both white and others watched from their home as looters attempted and in some cases ransacked one of the most protected buildings in the world, all I could think was, they’re enjoying this far more than they’re angry about Trump not winning the election. For most of those who took place in the failed coup - both instigators and agitators the desired end goal was always a fantasy dream at best.

The election results were never going to be overturned, the nation’s highest court, the Supreme Court time and time again has decided it either will not hear a case brought by Trump and his attorney’s nor will it fast-track other ones involving disputed election results. So what else could possibly be to gain for Trump’s most die hard fans?

Preserving the last of white supremacy as a part of the American mainstream may be the answer.

The United States is a country that has never answered for its greatest wrongdoing as a country - slavery. The only war fought on this here land was a Civil War fought for the right to continue the institution known as chattel slavery. One hundred and fifty-five years later the consequences of never addressing the ails from the war and the subsequent terror towards black Americans came to fruition.

The media as a whole lied and gaslit their audiences in 2015 when Donald Trump began his bid for the presidency. instead of calling out his campaign tactics for what they were, racism and white supremacist tactics akin to those of confederacy leaders and white supremacist President’s of the past.

The media after downplaying the danger that was Trump went on to coddle the feelings of white people who were rightfully called out for aligning with a outwardly racist President and his rhetoric, in particular allowing the “poor white working class” to not be held accountable for supporting and at times championing these racist ideologies.

These everyday folks in “flyover country” were constantly given a pass in their decision to support a failed businessman with no political experience. Getting played by the millionaire New Yorker wasn’t a reflection of them, oh quite the contrary, these people according to the media suffered from economic anxiety and because of that - voting for racism and against their best interests was no fault of their own and the making fun of them is what the real issue was.

Four years of the MAGA presidency has come and gone with little promises delivered. A wall wasn’t erected on the Mexican-U.S. border, the Affordable Care Act is still the healthcare law of the land and I don’t know if America is great again.

In the final year as President of the United States which included health, social and economic issues that have all equally ravished the country -  the one thing the first white president was able to accomplish as he leaves office is bringing back white supremacy to center stage of American politics.
